Compensation OverviewThe annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards.Salary Range$118,600.00 - $195,600.

00Target Openings1What Is the Opportunity?The Counsel role is responsible for providing a range of cost-effective, high quality legal services while representing Travelers. The Counsel will focus on real estate investments, including direct-owned properties, joint ventures, and investment funds.What Will You Do?Support all aspects of a real estate investment portfolio that includes direct-owned properties, joint ventures, and investment funds.

Draft, negotiate, and review a wide range of legal documents related to real estate ownership, operation, and investment.Collaborate on a team and coordinate with outside counsel to complete transactions and to identify and creatively solve a wide range of legal, regulatory, and business issues.Build relationships with internal clients and corporate partners to achieve business objectives and to understand and address various interests.

Proactively identify, communicate, and provide recommendations to mitigate risks.Maintain awareness of external regulatory climate and legal developments.Apply organizational and project management skills to manage data and documents consistently and efficiently.

Develop, lead, and complete complex projects as needed or assigned.Make effective use of technology and automation.Perform other duties as assigned.

What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?Minimum of 5 years of prior legal experience preferred; preferred experience in a broad-based real estate practice, including corporate matters and contracting.Motivated, creative self-starter with a positive attitude, proactive approach, and enthusiasm for learning in a wide range of legal and corporate areas.Excellent project management, organizational, and data management skills.

Able to prioritize, plan, and multi-task work activities to effectively meet deadlines.Strong ability to follow up on pending items and track project progress.Excellent analytical and communication skills; ability to use diplomacy and discretion in relaying information.

Able to work independently, as well as in a collaborative team environment.What is a Must Have?Juris Doctorate or equivalent International legal degree; graduate of an accredited law school.Minimum of 3 years of prior legal experience.
