Job Summary:

The George Washington University Hospital is seeking a dedicated and experienced NICU Level III Nurse Educator to join our Professional Development & Education team. This role is essential for ensuring the continuous development and competency of our NICU nursing staff. The ideal candidate will have a strong clinical background in neonatal intensive care, excellent teaching skills, and a passion for fostering professional growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate educational programs and initiatives for NICU Level III nursing staff.
  • Conduct orientation programs for new hires and ongoing training sessions for current staff.
  • Provide bedside teaching and clinical support to nursing staff to ensure high-quality patient care.
  • Collaborate with the nursing leadership team to identify educational needs and develop strategies to meet these needs.
  • Serve as a resource and mentor for NICU nurses, fostering a supportive and learning-focused environment.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of policies and procedures that enhance nursing practice.
  • Stay current with the latest developments in neonatal nursing and incorporate evidence-based practices into educational programs.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of educational programs through feedback and performance metrics.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Nursing or Education or equivalent training and experience. (candidates with current enrollment in such a Master s program will be taken into consideration)
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
  • Current RN license in the District of Columbia or endorsement eligible.
  • Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in a Level III NICU or higher.
  • Previous experience in nursing education or staff development preferred.
  • Certification in Neonatal Intensive Care Nursing (RNC-NIC) preferred.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to lifelong learning and professional development.
